Textile designer and artist
Madeline Weinrib
launched a new month-long exhibit at the Southampton, New York, outpost of
Sebastian + Barquet
this past weekend.
Unveiled for the fist time in this exhibition, Weinrib’s latest fabrics cover mid-century classics such as seating by Vladimir Kagan, Gio Ponti, and Alexander Girard, creating juxtapositions of old and new that lend both bodies of work fresh perspectives. Weinrib sites her background in painting as a strong influence throughout her eponymous line of textiles and carpets, all of which are created by hand using antique methods of craftsmanship.

Highlights include Gio Ponti’s iconic Leggera side chair covered in Weinrib’s Brown Stripes Ikat fabric; Vladimir Kagan’s floating Erica chaise updated with Weinrib’s Lavender Egerton Jacquard; Osvaldo Borsani’s P32 lounge chair featuring a mix of Dove Grey Ikat fabrics; and a rare three seat sofa by Italian design duo Ico and Luisa Parisi, reinvented in Brown Stripe Ikat.

“Madeline Weinrib at Sebastian + Barquet Southampton” is the designer’s second show with the gallery and will be on view through September.
