Peek Inside a $5,000-A-Night Hotel Suite by Josh Held Design
The duplex penthouse suite at the Dream Downtown hotel in New York comes with quite a price tag, $5,000 a night. So the bar was understandably high for Josh Held Design when specifying indulgences for the 900-square-foot landscaped terrace. Its most prominent feature, Josh Held decided, would be a hot tub.
Diamond Spas , facilitator of such luxuries, went to work on a completely custom model. It was prefabricated in Colorado, then craned into place in New York. There, Held added a teak surround accented by LEDs.
The 9-by-10-foot, 4-foot deep basin has three walls of stainless steel, tungsten-welded to ensure structural integrity, and a clear acrylic waterfall front. Also acrylic is the floor panel. That way, water-filtered sunlight can spill across the living area below.
