Piero Lissoni Channels Loft-Like Aesthetic for Sanlorenzo SX88 Yacht

Piero Lissoni didn’t “come on board,” “take the helm,” or even look to “rock the boat” when tapped to design the new Sanlorenzo SX88 motoryacht. Instead, he introduced his own aesthetic language. The 2005 Interior Design Hall of Famer envisioned a loft-like concept while rejecting what he views as the yachting industry’s repetitious themes. While the world-renowned designer has two previous yacht interiors under his belt, he recognizes his outsider status within the field. “I feel like an interloper,” he admits. “The fact that I’m not a yachting specialist meant I brought a fresh eye to the design.”

The interior’s flexible open-plan layout emphasizes livability. The main deck, a continuous stretch with little obstruction, encourages free and easy movement from stern to bow. Glass walls provide the carefully furnished living area with abundant natural light. Lissoni’s versatile design makes room for extensive customization down to the color palette and materials, while featuring sustainable details such as LED lighting, bio-resins, and certified woods.
