Poltrona Frau Group and Haworth Acquire JANUS et Cie

At the dawn of this year’s Salone del Mobile Internazionale in Milan, Poltrona Frau Group and Haworth announced that it would acquire a majority share of JANUS et Cie. “I am very proud to announce the creation of an extraordinary partnership,” remarked Janice Feldman, CEO of JANUS et Cie. “Poltrona Frau Group and Haworth have made an important investment in [our company]. Beyond our shared core values in people, growth, and historical legacy, our companies have powerful synergies as we expand together globally.”

The leading American purveyor of premium outdoor and interior furniture, which currently employs 240 people across 40 sales offices and 16 directly-owned showrooms, will join Haworth’s Lifestyle Design division, an illustrious group that includes Cassina, Cappellini, and Poltrona Frau.

“I am particularly happy that we have reached this agreement after a long journey of discovery,” noted Dario Rinero, CEO of Poltrona Frau Group. “Through [this acquisition] we will will enter the important segment of outdoor furniture, attaining a global leadership position thanks to the value of the brand and the size of the company.”

Rinero further highlighted JANUS et Cie’s tremendous growth potential, noting that the company’s foothold remains mostly in North America, with Asian and European markets largely untapped. 

JANUS et Cie will continue to operate independently, and founder Janice Feldman will continue to serve as the company’s CEO, reporting directly to Rinero. The transaction is currently pending, with approval by regulatory bodies expected to take place within the next 30-60 days.
