Milestones Of Design: Rebecca Moses On American Fashion

The worlds of interior design and fashion have always been intertwined, courtesy of a shared emphasis on textiles, materiality, the movement of the body through space—and the ease with which creatives tend to switch between disciplines. One such example is Rebecca Moses, who spent decades designing clothing and accessories (for the likes of Pierre Cardin and Pineider 1774) before pivoting and doubling down on her love of illustration. That new thread led to myriad notable projects, among them a 2025 wallcovering collection for Momentum.

 So, when the Council of Fashion Designers of America asked its more than 300 members, including Moses, to share what this country’s 250-year sartorial legacy means to them, the artist replied with an artwork that captures and celebrates a moment of self-expression. “American fashion,” she notes, “is the story of possibility: a nation shaped by immigrants, fueled by entrepreneurship, and defined by creativity, individuality, and constant reinvention.” Just like design. rebeccamoses.com
