Seven yards of durable Sunbrella fabric drape from the triangular powder-coated steel structure of Dropi, its shape based on a droplet of water—whether in rain or tear form. It’s the latest product from the Santa Monica, California–based studio of Tryggvi Thorsteinsson and Erla Dögg Ingjaldsdóttir, known for their holistic, eco-conscious approach to architecture, interiors, and industrial design. Ambient noise is absorbed by the swing’s enveloping textile sides. The softly curved cold-rolled-steel seat, measuring 30 inches wide and 24 deep, cradles the body. The designers recommend adding a sheep skin topper for comfort as well as looks. The sling’s height can be customized to the intended space’s ceiling height; plus, feel free to make your mark by choosing any drape-worthy upholstery.
