The late Italian architect Gae Aulenti also applied her great talent to outdoor furnishings. Her standing lamp from the Locus Solus collection from 1964, has been re-released by Exteta under license to the auteur’s archive. A lamp-icon in its outdoor version. Based on the image of a fishing rod as it curves, Twiggy Grid embodies its flexibility, clarity and strength, gathering them into an object with a vivid personality. In the outdoor model Twiggy returns to the wide open spaces. The shade is modified, with a woven surface that has both functional and aesthetic value: it makes it possible to screen the intensity of the light source, while at the same time establishing a dialogue with surrounding forms – nets, gates, the crossing of tree branches. A slim opening in the top of the shade provides soft, ambient upward illumination. The shade pivots, rotates, and slides on the vertical stem to optimize light distribution. A mechanical system provides great freedom of movement, so the light can always be set in the ideal position in the workspace, living room etc. Built-in LED technology provides high quality light with stepless dimming down to 15%. Timer function automatically turns off the light after a chosen duration of 4 or 8 hours, or can be set to stay permanently on. Memory function allows light level to be set for each time the fixture is connected to main power.
