Studio Antares Kicks Off Summer With a Club Pool House in L.A.
Studio Antares is cornering Southern California’s leisure-related architecture projects. On the heels of completing the club suites at Santa Anita Park horse track in Arcadia, the firm has designed the pool house at Manhattan Country Club in Los Angeles—just in time for the summer season. Housing previously scattered residual functions, the 1,600-square-foot structure is a sleek modernist volume in smooth cement plaster. Its highlight, however, is the capacious new terrace that, by day, offers umbrellas, chaise longues, and collapsible cabanas, along with views of the club’s 19 tennis courts in one direction and the main swimming pool in the other, and a site for weddings or club events at night. Up next, Studio Antares turns its focus to frostier fun: an indoor skating and hockey center in New York.
