Style On Rails: Toronto Has A New High-Speed Air Rail, Union Pearson Express

North America’s first high-speed air rail, linking Toronto Pearson International Airport to Union Station downtown, the Union Pearson Express is expected to subtract 1.5 million car trips from roads in the first year alone. And to look good while doing it. That’s due in part to a native Canadian, Tyler Brûlé. The onetime Wallpaper wunderkind is also the founder of Winkreative, which oversaw Union Pearson Express station and train interiors, way-finding, branding, and even conductor uniforms referencing the 1940’s and ’50’s, the golden age of train travel. Hosoya Schaefer Architects led the design of the four stations, with Adamson Associates Architects building two and Morrison Hershfield and Zeidler Partnership Architects one apiece. All share a materials palette of steel, glass, and predominantly blond wood.
