W Los Angeles-Westwood Launches Fourth-Annual “Chill” Installation
For the fourth year running,
The W Los Angeles—Westwood
has transformed its pool deck into “CHILL” – that’s W-speak for a modern holiday getaway, complete with a 1,600-square-foot ice rink, 10 cabanas, a rink-side lounge, and an “Ice Bar.”
Chad Hudson Events, a an event design company which boasts such A-list engagements as the
Twilight
premieres and Guess fashion events, designed the space for the third time.
As opposed to last year, which featured the traditional red-and-green holiday colors, this year’s edition features a more sophisticated pallet of black, white, gold, and silver. Luxurious fabrics such as damask and velvet bring warmth to the cool colors and winter “chill.” Chad Hudson describes the space as “elegant with a just a twist,” referring to the pops of neon that punctuate the cabanas.
Hudson, who grew up in West Virginia, adds with a giggle, “The guests get to experience winter like people in the rest of the country – even if it is fabricated.” Visitors are invited to enjoy the ice, sip on themed cocktails, and munch on seasonal snacks including gingerbread. If they need to warm up, the cabanas, accessorized by
Z Gallerie
, offer virtual fireplaces and shelter from which to watch the faux snow fall every hour on the hour.
But you have to hurry. In LA, winter at the W only lasts from November 16 to January 3.
