William T. Georgis Among Pratt’s New Class of Legends
This November, the Pratt Institute will honor three industry heavyweights at its annual Legends Gala. Angela Conner, William T. Georgis, and Shirley Hill will be recognized at the event, a fundraiser in support of scholarships for Pratt students.
William T. Georgis’s wide-ranging portfolio includes private residences in La Jolla, Aspen, and Southampton; the cabin of a Gulfstream G650 jet; and an art-filled Seagram Building office for EnTrust Capital, a collaboration with Gensler that was previously featured by Interior Design.
Self-taught British sculptor Angela Conner is known for large-scale artworks that feature moveable components. Parts of her sculptures sway in the wind or change shape in the water. Conner’s work has been exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Royal Academy of Arts.
Shirley Hill is the founder and principal of InterArch, an architecture, design, and branding firm based in Moorestown, New Jersey, that has spearheaded the branding of Metro Bank in London, among other projects.
The Legends 2016 event is designed to both recognize icons that have shaped the worlds of art and design and also support the rising talent in the school’s own student body. 80% of the New York institution’s 4,600 undergraduate and graduate students are a recipient of a merit or need-based scholarship. Past honorees include Richard Meier, Dale Chihuly, and Karim Rashid.
