Discovery Awaits At Arte’s New York Showroom

Known for high-end materials—including metal foil, banana bark, and flamed wood veneer (see: Coti)—paired with innovative techniques, Belgium-born wallcoverings brand Arte has set up shop in New York. It’s the company’s first fully branded showroom in the U.S., the fourth worldwide after Paris, London, and Singapore. The 1,500-square-foot space in the D&D Building features printed, textile, vinyl, and 3D offerings, among them murals and panoramics. It is intended as a place for exploration; visitors can see and touch products that mimic everything from luxury fabrics and leather to wall finishes such as plaster—just like the real thing, but much more durable. An additional draw to go visit ASAP: the new spring collections. Some introductions were inspired by Polynesia—such as Cyperus, in metallic foil on natural grass, and Miro, with wood beads and embroidery. There are also compositions crafted from capiz shells, for instance Abalone and Cornice. And our fave is the fantastical Armalu, a parchment-like wallpaper depicting a mythical Sicilian beast.
