Clé Revives A Classic Tile Collection With An Earthy Touch
The company that revolutionized artisanal tiles in the U.S. recently gave a refresh to one of its own classics: the Architect’s Palette of thin, elongated bricks. While the first iteration was manufactured in matte, neutral tones, the new version features a silkier matte glaze and an expanded palette. (What stayed the same? The subtle rustic texture and the 2¼-by-12-inch format.) In response to high demand from customers, Clé has taken production in-house, creating glazes that range from earthy terra-cotta, dark green, and rust to cool shades of dark gray and off-black—all with architect-sanctioned names like Blueprint, Stylus, Blotter, and Sketchpad. To maintain the purity of the look, Clé recommends installing the ⅝-inch-thick modules without trim pieces.
