Carnegie and Gensler Channel Athleisure for PFRM Upholstery Fabrics
When activity is a lifestyle, it doesn’t stay on the gym floor. Joining forces with design firm Gensler, textile specialist Carnegie translates the strength, durability, and boldness of modern athletic apparel into an equally energetic upholstery fabric collection. A yearlong development process between Gensler design principal Lee Pasteris and Carnegie executive vice president of creative Mary Holt culminated in PFRM, a shortcut for perform—the premise for the seven patterns. Pivot and Flex, both polyester, resemble high-performance fibers used in sneakers. Two Sunbrella acrylic-polyester blends, Triad and Triad Stripe, are inspired by leggings. Stride marshals a mélange of wool, nylon, polyester, and elastane to demonstrate advanced knit technologies. Kinetic is a multicolored cotton-poly stripe, while Relay is a gridded mix of polyester, nylon, and acrylic.
