From the Catwalk to the Museum, Fashion is the Star of the Show

Fashion shines—from the catwalk to the museum.

1. Firm: Shona Heath.
Project: Marni spring-summer 2016, Milan.
Standout: Arcing alongside the showroom’s runway, forms in whitewashed MDF echoed the abstracted leaves and other graphics on tunics and skirts.

2. Firm: Thom Browne.
Project: “Thom Browne Selects,” New York.
Standout: Laser-engraved holographic foil unified mirrors from the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, with the designer’s own wingtips, nickel-plated.

3. Firm: Tsao & McKown Architects.
Project: “Beauty–Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial,” New York.
Standout: The museum’s 1902 mansion transformed into a celebration of fashion and other disciplines, grouped by such themes as Extravagant, Intricate, and Transgressive.

4. Firm: Innocad Architektur.
Project: “Architectural Fashion,” Berlin.
Standout: For Architektur Galerie Berlin, Innocad interpreted its buildings as garments, for example a wrap woven in a diamond pattern like the facade of the firm’s studio.

5. Firm: Tokujin Yoshioka.
Project: “Miyake Issey Exhibition: The Work of Miyake Issey,” Tokyo.
Standout: At the National Art Center, mannequins made from 365 clear acrylic parts, slotted together, are clad in ever-innovative clothing from the past 45 years.
