In São Paulo, Greg Bousquet Creates a Soulful Theater in a Corporate Space
For the restoration of an existing theater in São Paulo, Greg Bousquet—previously one of the founding partners at Triptyque Architecture and now head of Architects Office—felt an “immense responsibility.” They not only had to incorporate the client’s values and make the space accessible, but the architects also wanted to create “a place for culture par excellence” and “convey the soul of the company.” Their solution was to lean on elegant materials, incorporate the brand’s signature color, and create a flexible lobby that could host corporate employees during the day.
The theater utilizes a rich purple for carpeting, curtains, and seats—mixed with acoustic elements and Jequitibá wood. Architects Office, led by Greg Bousquet, worked closely with lighting designer Carlos Fortes Luz + Design. Their innovative solution in the lobby was to utilize color-changing LEDs along the floor and ceiling. During the day, the light provides standard illumination for employees traveling through the lobby to their offices. For an event, the color changes, yet purple ultimately rules this space.
