JDP Interiors Infuses Character into a West Hollywood Bachelor Pad
Joyce Downing Pickens of JDP Interiors looked to chic Los Angeles design boutiques, The Apartment by The Line and Garde, as well as her client’s collection of surrealist art for inspiration when piecing together the design of this 2,421-square-foot bachelor pad in West Hollywood. The home, a new construction, lacked character, so Pickens sought to insert a fresh sense of style and character throughout by adding statement lighting and mixing vintage furniture finds with customized pieces. Choosing pieces that “complimented and infused subtle surrealist notions,” and setting everything against a neutral backdrop, Pickens expertly juxtaposes delicate pieces with chunkier ones for unexpected pairings that seem perfectly balanced. “I love to incorporate warmth into modern spaces by adding texture and mixing materials such as leather, metal, and fur,” she said. “Mixing in unique furniture finds and sourcing vintage pieces also really helped bring this project to life.”
