Uppercut Outfits Italy’s Villaverde Hotel & Resort With Nature-Inspired Facade
Nestled amid the Frulian Dolomites and the Julian Prealps is the Villaverde Hotel & Resort, a sustainability minded destination in Fagagna, about an hour north of Venice. Among the amenities is the 200-acre Udine Golf Club. That’s where four golden volumes have recently landed on the ninth hole, courtesy of Giacomo Borta and Filippo Burelli of Uppercut.
Dubbed the Lodge Villaverde, each of the prefabricated, electrically powered structures encompasses 1,400 square feet, sleeps eight, and is outfitted in Afrormosia millwork, ceramic floor tile, Corian bathroom vanities, and contemporary furnishings by the likes of Ross Lovegrove. But the real draw is the exteriors. Alternating between tinted glass are panels of a copper-zinc alloy. “Integration with nature was paramount,” Borta states, “and gold maintains a dialogue year-round, with autumn’s reds, spring’s blooms, and muted winter light.” Adds Burelli: “We look for original solutions.”
