Brooks Morelock is a Design Director and Principal in Gensler’s New York office leading the design and strategy of complex workplace projects for industry giants. Over the past decade, he has blended design and strategy to deliver innovative solutions for clients like Google, Pinterest, Deloitte, Wells Fargo, Sotheby’s, Omnicom, and Excel Sports Management. He is known as a visionary— translating evolving client needs into award-winning spaces and pioneering innovative approaches that redefine the future of workplaces. By crafting spaces that are inherently flexible and adaptable to the ever-changing industry landscape, he ensures clients have the power to enact meaningful transformations within the environments he designs. He leverages a systems-based approach to craft progressive and sustainable environments, exemplified by Google’s 1,300,000-square-foot New York HQ for Google’s Global Business Organization at St. John’s Terminal—which seamlessly integrates Google’s future work vision with their sustainability objective. He additionally spearheaded the design of a confidential HQ in Connecticut, a transformative project in the heart of Stamford allowing creative teams to be co-located with talent and broadcast for the first time in their history, creating a more cohesive culture and a stronger connection to the brand. As a Design Experience Leader, he co-leads a community of over 50 design directors, evolving Gensler’s practice by expanding the meaning of Design Excellence. Beyond design, Brooks is invested in the growth of junior design professionals, ensuring that the next generation of leaders enjoys fulfilling and enriching career journey. During his tenure as Co-Chair of Education for IIDA NY, he empowered over 300 interior designers to achieve licensure in New York City. Recognized by ASID as a 2019 “Ones to Watch” Scholar, Brooks champions diversity within the industry by participating in the selection committee for future scholarship recipients, focusing on LGBTQIA+ and minority designers.
