Interior design is similar to the precise extraction of coffee—a process that requires balance, sensitivity to proportion, and continuous refinement. Just as a well-crafted brew depends on the careful control of variables, each decision shapes the final “flavor” of a space. Focusing on workplace and healthcare environments, Wei Cai sees design as a way to shape human behavior and well-being. Beyond solving spatial problems, the work explores how materiality, light, and circulation define identity and experience. Each project is approached through careful consideration of how people move, interact, and feel within space. Whether supporting collaboration or enabling healing, the goal remains consistent: to create environments that are both intuitive and meaningful, with a focus on supporting well-being and long-term experience. With a cross-cultural educational background, Cai has developed an awareness of how different cultural contexts shape the way people perceive and inhabit space—much like how origin and terroir define the character of a bean.
