Alfa Romeo x Maserati’s Atelier Ignites A New Automotive Era

In Italy’s Motor Valley—an arc that stretches from Modena to Turin and Arese—design, craftsmanship, and engineering have long converged to produce some of the world’s most revered automobiles. Now, a new creative engine has been ignited in the heart of the region: Bottega Fuoriserie, the joint design and personalization hub of Alfa Romeo and Maserati. “This launch is more than the creation of a new initiative–it is the symbol of a new era for Alfa Romeo and Maserati,” says Santo Ficili, Alfa Romeo CEO and Maserati COO. “It represents our unwavering belief in the power of Italian creativity, engineering, and craftsmanship.”

While the project encompasses performance, restoration, and motorsport innovation, its most transformative impact may lie in its design culture—particularly in its vision for next-generation interior design. This atelier-style operation repositions the automobile’s interior as an actual Italian living space: tactile, architectural, sensual, and exquisitely crafted. Even in the performance and motorsport department, interior design plays a central role–the motorsport pillar of Bottega Fuoriserie translates track expertise into ergonomic innovation: seating architecture, control placement, driver interfaces, lightweight materials, and the sensory clarity of the cabin.

Alfa Romeo and Maserati join forces to present Bottega Fuoriserie, a new chapter of Italian excellence dedicated to innovation and craftsmanship.

At Bottega Fuoriserie, the idea is that an interior begins as an concept presented to the client, then evolves through bespoke material development, custom color palettes, fine artisan intervention, and architectural reinterpretation of the cabin. Every element—stitched leather volumes, sculptural dash forms, chromatic atmospheres, perforation patterns, even the scent of materials—is developed in a collaborative dialogue with the client. The result is an interior that feels as tailored as a private residence or a custom-built yacht. This approach extends across Italy’s entire Motor Valley, drawing on the design legacies of Lombardy and Piedmont and the fabrication mastery of Emilia-Romagna.

Also, under Bottega Fuoriserie’s La Storia program, Alfa Romeo and Maserati heritage models are being restored and reinterpreted. This includes reviving historic upholstery techniques, chromatic schemes, and material palettes while integrating modern technologies. Jean-Philippe Imparato, Maserati CEO, says, “This extraordinary joining of forces between two iconic brands is combining the finest in Italian design, engineering, and culture. The interior of a car can be as emotionally resonant as a finely designed home, and Italy remains one of the world’s foremost laboratories for beauty, precision, and craftsmanship.”
