NeoCon: Rainbow Connection
Hovering over the Mart’s lobby escalator this year was an installation that seemed in step with the inclement weather outside: a vibrant rainbow. Officially called Plexus C22, it was the work of artist Gabriel Dawe, who wrangled 30 miles of sewing thread into prismatic swaths, a feat that took three people 60 hours to fabricate. The installation helped launch Dawe’s first product-design effort, his Moiré series of nylon carpet for Mannington Commercial. Available in both broadloom and modular tile formats, the patterns include intersected Pure Wavelength and fragmented Visible Light.
