Icelandic-born, Los Angeles–based architect/designer Gulla Jónsdóttir brings a beguiling blend of mathematical rigor and sensual poetry to her buildings, interiors, and furniture. Her latest piece—a limited-edition, handmade coffee table comprising interlocking blocks of walnut and burnished bronze—was inspired by the gathering of friends: Each element is separate but, like individuals 
joining their fellows for social pleasure, the wood and metal 
pieces come together to form
a singular nexus around which
