Brokis Ventures Into Outdoor Lighting with Bonbori
Named for the traditional Japanese paper lamps used to line the paths of temples and shrines during festivals, Bonbori is Czech maker Brokis’s first outdoor lighting offering. Japanese industrial designer Fumie Shibata, who founded Design Studio S in 1994, had the idea to translate the familiar form into a fixture engineered for connection via underground wiring. A handblown shade offered in opal, opaline, or transparent glass (the latter in smoke gray or brown) levitates on a stainless-steel stem treated to an environmentally friendly powder-coat robust enough to weather the great outdoors. In three matte colorways: iron black, copper metallic, and gray metallic.
