Spotlight On A Drinks Cabinet With A Rustic Touch
Orior, the family-run furniture maker operating out of Newry, in Northern Ireland, introduces the Beatha drinks cabinet, its thick walls and eased edges gently echoing a thatched-roof cottage. When the half-moon doors—elegantly swathed in hair-on hide—are closed, two slivers of the solid-walnut frame behind remain visible up top, playfully resembling protruding ears. Clasp the hand-formed cast-bronze handles to reveal storage space for barkeep tools: a walnut drawer and bottle racks, stainless-steel mixing trays (one pull-out, one portable), and a work surface available in multiple marble types. Founded in 1979 by Brian and Rosie McGuigan and now helmed by son Ciaran McGuigan, Orior opened a New York showroom in 2022 on SoHo’s Mercer Street, where the jaunty cabinet is currently on view.
