What’s new across the pond? This spring, Melinda Marquardt’s textile and wallcovering label The Vale London introduces the Maddox collection, building on last year’s James series—both of them named for storied streets in tony Mayfair, London. Consistent with the Vale aesthetic, which reflects the interiors of the English townhomes where Marquardt grew up, many patterns feature delectable hand-rendered details. Standouts include Charlie, a durable check softened by bouclé yarn; Roman Holiday, a block-printed cotton woven to mimic the texture of coarse matka silk, whose figurative pattern is based on scribbles Marquardt once painted on plates at a dinner party; and cotton floral Calusa, strewn with oversized hibiscus blooms.
