Nanna Ditzel’s Playful Trisse Collection Grows Up

Adults can always use more play in their lives. Trisse, created by Nanna Ditzel in 1962, was originally conceived as children’s furniture, the lack of strict definition allowing users to move the spool-shape units around and change their function as needed, from perch to table to stand. “That sense of openness is very much at the core of Ditzel’s work,” says Maria Bruun, head of design at Frederica. The company now reissues Trisse as a family of turned-wood pieces in FSC-certified solid oak, the simple silhouette still blurring the lines between seat and surface. The collection encompasses a stool (two sizes), a coffee table (four sizes), a café table (three sizes), and a bar table, all in oiled and smoked finishes.
