These Designs Stretch Beyond The Grid
As an organizing concept, the grid might suggest something rigid and inflexible, but in the hands of Fabiola di Virgilio and Andrea Rosso, the twosome behind Italian practice RedDuo Studio, it becomes inviting and open-ended. At Matter and Shape design fair in Paris, the pair unveiled new pieces that riff on elements of a grid. Glowtile, a modular ceramic lighting system produced by Italy’s Leucos, comes in two formats (square and rectangular) and three colors (chalk blue, oyster white, and mineral gray) that can be endlessly combined into linear sequences or irregular compositions for the wall or ceiling. The Furry Network, a rug collection conceived for Belgian company JOV, was first designed for di Virgilio and Andrea Rosso’s own home and studio. Presenting a matrix of long-pile mohair, New Zealand wool, and other fine fibers, it’s now ready to take on the wider market in an all-new palette of dusty blue, stone gray, milky white, and butter yellow. leucos.com, jov-design.com
