Uniqka Celebrates 10 Years With New Leather Colorway
Launched 10 years ago in Istanbul by Kerem Ariş and Merve Parnas, this studio produces furniture and home goods handcrafted of leather deployed in unusual ways. Pieces are made in their workshop using techniques such as hand stitching, layering, CNC milling, laser cutting, and cuir bouilli (“boiled leather,” a bit of a misnomer as it’s typically soaked). For its 10th anniversary, the brand introduces a new deep red–purple colorway dubbed Borgona, which the cofounders describe as having “the richness of aged wine, the softness of velvet, and the quiet strength of earth.” The hue can be specified on all existing designs by a global roster of collaborators. Our top picks include the plumage-inspired Betsy collection by Lara Bohinc, featuring a standing mirror, console, bench, side table, and a new stool designed for the occasion; the frilly steel-and-leather Bellis jewelry holder by Bilge Nur Saltık; plus tables by Studiopepe, pendants by Jacob de Baan and Romy Kühne, and more. uniqka.com
