Anna James’s Collezione L!Puff Reduces Postmodernism to Its Essence
In her Collezione L!Puff, Lisbon-based illustrator, exhibition designer, and Central Saint Martins alum Anna Horváth reduces post-modernism to its essence: insistent colors and unexpected juxtapositions of materials and shapes. The Memphis-inflected pieces, produced under the umbrella of her multidisciplinary brand, Anna James, incorporate a signature ingredient: white cast concrete—the aggregate sourced from a Hungarian quarry—left unpolished and embedded with flecks of red and blue glass. That terrazzo-like material forms the rectangular pedestal of a grand circular mirror and frames a chair with a canvas seat hung on steel pipes. A more subdued version sans flecks tops simple painted particleboard bases to create neat tables and stools. The collection also includes a witty rocking chair, which shines on a stainless steel base. All pieces are handmade and sustainably produced.
