When it comes to striking design, there’s no question details matter. Often the concept behind a product’s evolution is as important as the finished aesthetic. After all, good design enriches a space in multiple ways, adding elements of taste, time, and place. For one company based just outside of Los Angeles, its latest collection of artful shower drains does just that, reflecting the glamour of its surroundings.

This fall, California Faucets is expanding its revolutionary StyleDrain® collection, which disrupted the market in 2009 as the world’s first decorative shower drain handcrafted from premium materials. Unlike clunky shower drains, StyleDrain is designed to blend seamlessly with surrounding flooring, serving as a utilitarian art piece.

Though other manufacturers quickly attempted to emulate StyleDrain’s chic design, California Faucets continues to maintain its pioneering position in the luxury drain space with innovations such as StyleDrain Tile, which allows inlay of any tile or stone to integrate with the floor, and ZeroDrain—the market’s first “pop-down” drain, which sits flush against a lavatory sink. All four of the company’s luxury drainsStyleDrain, StyleDrain Tile, CeraLine channel drain, and ZeroDrainhave received Interior Design’s prestigious Best of Year Awardamong other esteemed industry accolades.

Now the company’s StyleDrain collection includes four fresh designs, created by Beverly Hills interior designer Christopher Grubb, which are inspired by the bends and curves of illustrious streets in Los Angeles: Mulholland, Roxbury, Camden, and Strathmore. Each piece succeeds in reimagining the streetscape of its namesake, infusing geometric patterns with Art Deco glamour, from the sophisticated spiral of Mulholland to the herringbone-patterned Roxbury.

“Bringing standout bath products to my discriminating clientele has always been a priority, and ever since discovering the original StyleDrain, I’ve been specifying the designs as an important finishing touch,” says Grubb, president and founder of Arch-Interiors Design Group. The StyleDrain collection utilizes California Faucets’ patented design, which features no visible screws and a flush grill plate. The drains also expertly handle water flow from a range of shower systems.

  • Like fine jewelry, even StyleDrain‘s packaging is memorable with custom-cut foam to protect the solid brass drains. “From start to finish, we pay attention to every last detail, from designing and engineering to assembling, and hand-finishing,” says Jeff Silverstein, president and CEO.

  • Since 1988, the company has manufactured handcrafted and easily customizable bath products in 28 finishes, including 15 Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) finishes with a lifetime guarantee against tarnishing. PVD is a highly durable surface proven to resist more than 100 cleaning products and harsh environmental factors, such as salt air and hard water, making it an ideal choice for any bathroom.

Designers will take comfort in knowing each step of the manufacturing process is done by hand at the brand’s factory in Huntington Beach, from the first cut to the final buffing stages. List prices for the new designs in the collection range from $239 for Polished Chrome to $382 for premium finishes, such as Black Nickel.
