Gray Is The New White, When It Comes To Sink Design

In the age of digital detoxes, the kitchen offers a welcome respite from the constant glare of screens. Even the simplest meals enable us to connect with family traditions and culture; time seems to slow down when washing and preparing food. This means designers have a lofty task at hand when it comes to creating a functional and inviting kitchen. While white remains a timeless kitchen aesthetic, which makes dirt hard to miss, design studies suggest a subtle shift is underway toward gray tones. One company is tapping into an overlooked opportunity to add a pop of colorthe kitchen sink.

BLANCO, a leading German manufacturer of sinks and faucets since 1925, views the kitchen sink as more than a purposeful washbasin. Rather, the company considers it a muse with the power to shape the design of a room, or an entire home. Given this approach, it’s no surprise BLANCO recently introduced a smart neutral to its SILGRANIT sink collection, called Concrete Gray.

“BLANCO’s new Concrete Gray makes a statement on many levels,” says Tim Maicher, director of marketing for BLANCO. “Concrete Gray provides the greatest design flexibility – it is a perfect match for today’s kitchen materials and complements a wide range of countertops for a cool, modern design. We spend countless hours analyzing color trends to find timeless neutrals that offer a fresh, sophisticated look, which seamlessly blends in a way that is practical, while inspirational.”

Concrete Gray is a neutral that works across the color spectrum, with a vast range of tones, ensuring a long lifespan in a space. Given BLANCO’s extensive color intelligence research, the company also offers designers a CEU on the topic, which delves into the impact of color in a space on health and wellness.

BLANCO’s color palettes, like its line of durable SILGRANIT sinks, are made to last. The sinks are designed to complement industrial-chic and nature-inspired aesthetics alike, since the company’s patented SILGRANIT embodies the look and feel of granite. SILGRANIT is a composite material made of up to 80% natural granite that’s both stain- and scratch-resistant and easy to clean. It’s also heat-resistant up to 536°F and includes Hygienic+Plus surface protection. BLANCO’s SILGRANIT collection is offered in nine colors.

The company also updated its BLANCO SILGRANIT app this year, which now includes its latest colors and collections. The app enables consumers to match countertops with sinks in a user-friendly interface.
