Murals Wallpaper’s Latest Collection Riffs on Mid-Century Furnishings

Mid-Century Modern.

Neutra. Breuer. Aalto. Jacobsen. Design giants all—but that’s not all. They’re also among the boldface names found in Mid-Century Modern, the latest retro range from Murals Wallpaper. Rather than referencing textiles or graphic goods, creative designer Kathryn Jones focused on vintage furnishings, then created murals to match. “We looked at the shapes and joints of Hans J. Wegner’s chairs, including the Y back of the Wishbone,” Jones says, describing the Wegner Colorful pattern. “The shape inspired us to fill the vacant space with similar forms, in a palette synonymous with the 1950s and ‘60s.” Available in heavyweight paper-backed vinyl and two qualities of paper, the design is sold by the square meter in strips measuring 4 feet wide, with each piece numbered for easy installation.
