The Room Studio Infuses a Barcelona Apartment With French Flair

The kitchen area was opened, avoiding compartments and obstacles that prevented light from going through every corner. Photography by Mauricio Fuertes.

When tasked with renovating an apartment on Calle París in the heart of Barcelona, Spain, Meritxell Ribé and Josep Puigdomènech—founders of The Room Studio—seized the opportunity to pay homage to the City of Lights. The 1,184-square-foot space features an open kitchen with views of the living area and its expansive windows. For the young homeowners, the designers opted for a palette of earthy neutrals, prominently featuring hues of Terra-cotta and green, accented by marbles, brass and iron alongside vibrant textiles. “We were excited to change the cold and characterless appearance of a new construction home and turn it into a cozy, familiar, and intimate space,” the designers said, noting that the space now is brimming with personality and soothing accents.
