Andrew Monaghan is a principal and interior design director at SCB with more than 18 years of experience and an award-winning portfolio spanning corporate interiors, aviation, hospitality, and mixed-use environments. His work ranges from 5,000-square-foot locales to those with over 3 million square feet, across North America, China, and the Middle East. Recently named principal, Monaghan’s new role reflects the impact of his work and his growing influence on the firm’s creative direction. As design director, Monaghan brings a clear, experience-driven vision to each project, thoughtfully integrating people, place, brand, and function. His approach is grounded in a deep understanding of client culture, goals, and operations, enabling him to deliver tailored solutions that are both enduring and adaptable. A strong narrative sensibility underpins his work, ensuring every project expresses a distinct identity and purpose. Monaghan leads many of SCB’s most high-profile, design-forward commissions, where his ability to navigate complexity with clarity is highly valued. His work reflects an evolving market perspective, applying a hospitality lens to workplace design and elevating amenity and experience as key drivers of tenant engagement and long-term value. His projects embody SCB’s ethos of performance, craft, and beauty—balancing operational rigor with refined materiality and a strong focus on human experience. Notable projects include the repositioning of 10 & 120 South Riverside, a Best of Year finalist; Harrison Street Headquarters in Fulton Market; SCB’s headquarters at 330 North Wabash; and the United Polaris Lounge and United Club at O’Hare International Airport, with the Polaris Lounge recognized as a finalist in the IIDA Interior Design Competition. Monaghan is a member of IIDA, a LEED Accredited Professional, and holds a Master of Architecture from the Boston Architectural College.
