Lynn Kingdon, creative director at Camira, brings a rare blend of artistic vision, commercial insight, and sustainability leadership to the contract interiors industry. Responsible for brand, creative direction, and product, Kingdon has helped shape Camira’s globally recognized design language, where material innovation meets timeless aesthetic. Her journey into design was anything but conventional. Beginning her career in banking, Kingdon quickly recognized the importance of pursuing passion over predictability. She pivoted into art and design, completing a foundation course before studying Textile Design at Central Saint Martin’s in London, a move that set the course for an influential creative career. She began her creative career at Studio Fox Linton before spending a decade at Sanderson, where she became the company’s first colorist, reimagining the iconic work of William Morris and evolving heritage florals into contemporary palettes. Her role expanded into fabric design and global sourcing, building a deep understanding of both craft and commerce. Kingdon went on to lead design at UK retailer John Lewis before senior roles at Laura Ashley and Next Home. Since joining Camira in 2019, she has driven a new era of sustainable textile design, cementing Camira’s position as an innovator in sustainable materiality. Her portfolio includes standout innovations such as evolving wool-flax fabric Main Line Flax into a 57-color palette, introducing its partner tweed fabric, Main Line Twist, and developing Monochrome Sett collections. She has championed circular design through fabrics such as Revolutionary and ReSKU 2.0, using Camira’s own yarn waste, and has led the creative direction of SEAQUAL collections, including Oceanic and Quest, transforming marine plastic into high-performance textiles. Kingdon’s work is defined by a belief that great design should be both beautiful and responsible—an ethos that continues to influence the future of commercial interiors.
