Ahead of the Curve: Vegas Office Building Transformed with Tile
First impressions matter.
This adage is abundantly true in the business of commercial property design. It’s essential that office space presents a modern aesthetic to attract top tenants. That’s why Odyssey Real Estate Capital prioritized the update of lobby areas and main floor public spaces upon purchasing City Center West in Las Vegas. Ethos Three Architecture was selected to lead the renovation of the 20-year-old, 212,000-square-foot class A property.
It was essential for the design team to “lighten the space and make it feel more open.” Likewise, the team sought any efficiencies to keep the renovation schedule on track. To achieve aesthetic and functional requirements—and keep the project moving, designers turned to Crossville for a range of creative surfacing solutions.
The team chose Buenos Aires Mood in Palermo for the main lobby flooring. This collection offers a sophisticated foundation for the building’s welcome area. For the lobby’s challenging curved walls, designers specified Crossville’s versatile Oxide gauged porcelain tile panels in the Perla color. The installation crew was able to apply these lean profile tile panels directly over the old surfaces without any complicated demolition issues. The panels offer a subtle, metallic glimmer effect that brightens the space, and the powerful porcelain body ensures the surfaces will perform with strength long term.
Transitioning from the lobby to restrooms, the designers chose Crossville’s Shades collection in Haze for floors and the subtly striated Moonstruck in Juno for walls. For design consistency, elevator bank walls were skinned with Oxide tile panels in the contrasting Grigio colorway. All these surfacing solutions provide ease of cleaning and low maintenance—essential attributes for the busy, commercial space and a certain ‘plus’ for making great first impressions with all who enter.
