AP+I Design Adds Director of Design and Promotes 3 Associate Principals

AP+I Design
is growing its team of just over 50 staffers and three principals, promoting Sophia Tyra, Kurt Krueger and Shelley Hazlitt to Associate Principals. The firm also announced that Carla Idrogo was been named Director of Design. Founded by Carol Sandman in 1993, the Mountain View, California-based architectural, planning, and interior design firm counts LinkedIn, Cisco, Symantec, and Rovi among its extensive list of clients, which includes more than two-dozen Silicon Valley venture capital firms.
Sandman says that while growing pains are inevitable, the firm’s expansion is necessary and going according to plan. “AP+I began as a smaller firm and still values a small firm mentality, maintaining this to support and foster a fun, creative environment,” she explains. “With the recent growth of the staff, it is critically important for the culture of the firm to stay fluid and cohesive. By continuing to develop and encourage the sharing of information, staff is motivated to stay efficient and successful.”
The newly promoted principals, she adds, add decades of expertise to AP+I Design’s impressive track record. “The cumulative wisdom of the new Associate Principals will bring over 50 years of experience in collaboration with the architectural community to broaden marketing opportunities, cultivate innovation, and inspire an even greater purpose within the firm.”
As Director of Design, Carla Idrogo will help broaden the firm’s scope of work with existing clients as well as adding new partners to the roster. Internally, she’ll focus on creating innovative campaigns to encourage what Sandman calls “design thinking” through designer’s contributions, as well as spurring personal development and mentorship.
Sandman adds, “Her focus on industry research and development will strategically prepare AP+I Design to become not only a resource, but a driver, within the Silicon Valley design community.”
