Dwell on Design

comes to New York for the first time from October 9 to 11, anticipating 5,000 attendees at the city’s

82Mercer

for a three-day conference and workshop exploring the intersection of the design and contract markets. The event will take place during the fourth year of AIA’s

Archtober

, a month-long architecture and design festival.

The New York version is slightly modified, with an emphasis on the industry’s movers and shakers and the locale’s specific issues. Alongside industry and content partner

Architecture for Humanity

, the conference will include Design Open Mic—where up and coming designers can submit designs for good. Other confirmed speakers include National Design Award winners Margie Ruddick and

Interior Design

Hall of Fame member Clive Wilkinson as well as Vishaan Chakrabarti of SHoP Architects, Pentagram partner Michael Bierut, National Design award winner and

Interior Design

Hall of Fame member David Rockwell, and Designtex CEO Susan Lyons.

Thursday, October 9 and Friday, October 10 will be designated trade days, with programming that will include CEU opportunities for architects and designers. A home tour will take place on Saturday, with a portion of ticket sales benefiting Architecture for Humanity, and will showcase five modern living spaces in Manhattan by architects including Andrew Franz, Workshop/APD and 590BC. Ticket prices will run from $15 for a student-discounted pass to $125 for a 2-day trade pass.
