Bolon’s New Digs: Showroom or Living Room?

Woven-vinyl flooring company Bolon, run by Swedish sisters Annica Eklund and Marie Eklund since 2003, recently unveiled its new showroom space in New York’s TriBeCa neighborhood. The new space was greeted with much fanfare as the company treated industry insiders to a tour of the Museum of the City of New York’s latest exhibit “Making Room: New Models for Housing New Yorkers”—featuring Bolon flooring—, a party at the Manex showroom, and finally a launch party at their showroom this week.

The showroom is a compelling blend of commercial space with living space, the necessary product display areas and offices mixing with a full kitchen and dining area. “The goal of the space was to make it a home space, welcoming the client and showing the company’s priority of creating personal relationships with their clients,” says Christophe Rammant, director of Bolon.

In addition to the familial atmosphere, the space exhibits a subtle mixture of old and new. Housed in the historic American Express Carriage House, the showroom boasts details such as exposed pine beams and large carriage house-style doors. However, modern collections, such as the recently released Missoni and Create collections, line the floor. It reflects the trajectory of the company: a business grounded in family history but looking to the future.
