Canadian Art Hotel Offers Klaus by Nienkämper Furniture

Sometimes, after a particularly magical hotel escape, you want to transport at least part of the experience into your daily life. With help from furniture distributor Klaus by Nienkämper, this feat is possible for visitors to the remote Fogo Island Inn, off of the northeast coast of Newfoundland, Canada.

Launched this month and available both online and at Klaus’s Toronto outpost, the Fogo Island Inn Collection consists of 70 unique pieces by designers from Canada and abroad including Elaine Fortin, Ineke Hans, and Nick Herder.

Among the highlights are Fortin’s Punt chair, which points to the island’s fishing roots with its boat-like curves; Herder’s Puppy side table, carved from a single piece of wood board; and the vibrantly colored Snake by the Guild, which curls into a comfortable seat cushion. Each piece is hand-fabricated by local artisans.

Located in the Fogo Island community of Joe Batt’s Arm, the Fogo Island Inn opened in 2013 and is housed in a minimalistic x-shaped building on stilts by architect Todd Saunders. Custom furnishings in the 29 guest rooms range from side tables to dining chairs to sconces and hangers.
