Foscarini Illuminates The Armory Show’s VIP Lounges

Italian lighting manufacturer Foscarini worked with Hôtel Americano and The Armory Show to design the art fair’s VIP lounges for its 2017 edition, open through March 5 at Piers 92 & 94 in New York. The lounges feature a bold royal blue color scheme that departs from the white walls common in galleries.

Inspired by Enrique Norten’s Hôtel Americano in nearby Chelsea, the pop-up restaurant at Pier 94 lures visitors inside with pyramidal stacks of champagne bottles that adorn the bar. Foscarini’s Allegro pendant in lacquered aluminum and chromed metal serves as the space’s centerpiece. An assemblage of the brand’s egg-shaped Gregg pendants in satin glass hover over the seating area.

Foscarini’s lamps also illuminate the second space, the Pier 92 VIP Champagne Bar and Lounge. A duo of Big Bang pendants bring dynamism to the bar, which is backdropped by floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the Hudson River. A Twiggy floor lamp anchors the adjacent seating area. Nearby, a Jamaica suspension lamp enhances the Publications Lounge’s yellow walls.
