Grain Design’s Saddle Doubles as a Stool or a Side Table

Saddle by Grain Design. Photography by Charlie Schuck.

After soaking in the surroundings on a working vacation in Oregon, Grain founders Chelsea and James Minola returned to their studio on Washington’s Bainbridge Island, eager to translate the trip into a range of furnishings. Perhaps it was the memory of the region’s famous horse trails that led to Saddle, which exudes the richness of leather but is actually bronze, precision-cut and welded. At 20 inches high, it’s fitting as a stool or a side table, inside or out. Each is made to order, so customization is possible.
