Here’s Your Preview of Interior Design’s 2019 Giants of Design Conference from Savannah, Georgia

Giants of Design 2019 is fast-approaching. Sunday, March 10 will mark the seventh anniversary of Interior Design’s can’t-miss destination conference for interior designers, architects, and related manufacturers. This year, Giants heads to Savannah, Georgia, for three days of immersive programming hosted by Interior Design Editor in Chief Cindy Allen. Here’s a sneak peek at the activities, experts, and luxe extras in store for attendees.

The first stop for Giants attendees will be the Perry Lane Hotel, where they will register for the event and get settled into their rooms. The recently-completed four-star hotel was designed by Savannah-based architectural firm Hansen, with interiors by AVRO|KO and restaurants designed by Dash Design. The hotel contains 3,600 objets d’art and is located just steps from Forsyth Park in Savannah’s Historic District. It was also listed as Travel + Leisure’s Best New Hotel in the World 2019.

On Sunday night, attendees will convene at the hotel’s rooftop lounge for a Q&A with Interior Design editor-in-chief Cindy Allen and William Harris, co-founder and principal of AVRO|KO. A welcome dinner with attendees, sponsors, and Interior Design editors will follow Cindy’s Q&A, concluding the evening.

Monday kicks off bright and early at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where Cindy will begin the day’s activities with a welcome address to attendees. Giants attendees will then be treated to a day of engaging presentations on the topics of Savannah’s rich architectural history and what’s next for the design profession. After lunch, attendees can stretch out with some rooftop yoga at the Perry Lane hotel, learn more about Savannah’s rich artistic history on a walking tour of local artist studios, or take in the Antebellum sights with a walking architectural tour of Savannah, among other activities.

Evening activities will commence with a cocktail hour at The Grey, an eclectic restaurant housed in a landmark art deco-style Greyhound terminal in downtown Savannah. The Grey’s executive chef Mashama Bailey is renowned for her culinary expertise and is featured on Netflix’s hit series “Chef’s Table.” A seated dinner by Bailey will be followed by a walking bourbon and cake tour to conclude the evening.

The final day of Giants is jam-packed with exclusive presentations on the future of technological innovation in design. State-of-the art presenters will cover topics like robotics in the workplace, the immersive revolution, and what virtual and augmented reality mean for hospitality and architecture. Amanda Schneider from Interior Design’s ThinkLab will conclude Giants with a presentation on ThinkLab’s exclusive research and how it stands to revolutionize the design industry.

Stay tuned for day-by-day coverage of Giants as it unfolds.
