In Good Company: The Latest at Dedon
The next big thing at Dedon is actually a bunch of things-by three different designers.
Interior Design
Hall of Fame member Philippe Starck made a pair of contributions. Play, his stacking chair with or without arms, combines a molded polypropylene and fiberglass frame in three colors, mirror-polished aluminum arms, and a seat in tufted vinyl or sturdy teak slats. For Play Tan in aluminum, he pitched the?backrest at a snooze-inducing 45 degrees and added a footstool. Meanwhile, Jean-Marie Massaud of Studio Massaud recalls 1950’s Palm Springs, California, with Sea-X, his spin on the archetypal director’s chair. Its die-cast aluminum frame, teak arm caps optional, supports a seat and back in woven synthetic resin or outdoor-worthy leather. But the biggest news-drumroll, please-is that Dedon has entered the rug trade. Floor to Heaven owner and creative head Michaela Schleypen, moonlighting from her day job, designed nubby Curl and two other debut patterns, all 79?by 118 inches in four colorways. 877-693-3366;
