Interior Design and ICFF Announce the Second Annual NYCxDesign Awards
INTERIOR DESIGN MAGAZINE AND ICFF ANNOUNCE THE SECOND ANNUAL NYCXDESIGN AWARDS, AN AWARDS PROGRAM CELEBRATING DESIGN IN NEW YORK CITY.
Interior Design magazine and ICFF present the second annual NYCxDESIGN Awards, a global design competition celebrating outstanding achievement across major areas of design—from architecture to interiors, from products to accessories, from craft to technology.
“We launched the NYCxDESIGN Awards to celebrate our beloved city and showcase New York City as the center of design. Year one–mission accomplished,” said Interior Design Editor in Chief, Cindy Allen.
“Entries came from 109 design firms with 90 percent having offices in New York City and 210 manufacturers with 60 international companies showing product at NYCxDESIGN–a perfect combination of global design and our own home town.”
Product and NYC-based project submissions are open to all fairs, exhibitors and firms until April 7th, 2017. New categories include Best of the Boroughs, Graphics and Branding, NYCxDESIGN Project of the Year and a special student opportunity.
Following the success of the inaugural NYCxDESIGN Jury, the 2017 entries will be judged by a panel of design luminaries. Winners will be announced on May 20th, 2017 at the MoMA prior to ICFF’s Opening Night Party.
For the second year, Lladró will create a custom version of their unique piece, The Guest, as the 2017 winner award.
The NYCxDESIGN Awards is a unique channel for NYCxDESIGN, an annual celebration highlighting New York City’s diverse design community, that elevates established and emerging designers and grows awareness of and appreciation for design in New York City.
Now in its fourth year, last year’s NYCxDESIGN featured 564 unique events at 228 locations. These events represented 17 design disciplines including digital, furniture, graphic, architecture, product and urban design. Hosted at venues throughout all five boroughs, NYCxDESIGN 2017 will include events focused on commerce, culture, education and entertainment with a full, varied program including exhibitions, installations, trade shows, talks, launches and open studios.
“The New York City Economic Development Corporation is laser focused on creating jobs in growing industries like design. We also know that designers play a critical role in keeping our city vibrant and innovative. We’re proud to collaborate with Interior Design and ICFF to honor pioneering designers who beautify our communities, strengthen our resiliency, diversify our economy, and enhance our quality of life,” said NYCEDC President and CEO Maria Torres-Springer.
