Kettal Unveils New Products to Celebrate its 50th Anniversary

Cala for Kettal.

When Manuel Alorda founded Kettal, he dedicated himself to tackling the aesthetics and functionality of outdoor furniture with equal gusto. Five decades later, he remains the company president, and the brand has continuously evolved under his leadership, first through innovative manufacturing techniques, then by attracting A-list designers to fuel the assembly line. Witness the assortment of pieces launched for the anniversary. Doshi Levien contributed Cala, a high-backed chair with a powder-coated aluminum frame knitted with rope. For the Stampa chair, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec experimented with various methods of manipulating aluminum, from the hydro-formed legs to the injection-molded ring that connects them to the seat and a perforated shell that’s flexible enough to rival fabric. An existing Jasper Morrison chair, Park Life, got an update via 30 new powder-coated colors.
