Textiles and upholstery innovator

Knoll Luxe

has teamed up with bed and mattress manufacturer

Savoir Beds

to increase support and awareness for the

Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation

. The organization champions a cause close to the heart of Knoll Luxe and Knoll Textiles creative director Dorothy Cosonas, whose 24-year-old daughter was suddenly paralyzed due to a rare autoimmune disease.

Last week during a special event at Savoir Beds’ New York flagship in SoHo, the two companies unveiled a custom bed up for auction on

charitybuzz.com

. Bidding will continue through December 5 at 12:52 p.m., and all proceeds will go to support the Reeve Foundation, which is dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injuries.

Cosonas designed the bed’s headboard, which features a Swarovski crystal-embellished bird motif titled “Dream for the Sky.” Explains Cosonas, “It represents freedom, movement, promise and the hope that she will walk – the bird holding the twig, that’s my daughter leading the pack.”

The decision for Savoir Beds to partner with Knoll Luxe on this venture was “natural and organic” according to Veronica Macasaet, owner of

Savoir NYC

.  “Savoir Beds has been around for a long time,” says Macasaet. “The design of the bed we are auctioning is the original Savoir No. 2; it is timeless, just like Dorothy’s designs. Joining the two is a work of art that was meant to be.”
