Matt Buckley Named Senior V.P. at Moore & Giles

has named Matt Buckley senior vice president of sales and strategic development. The company is a leader in the luxury natural leather industry and its superior craftsmanship can be found in the furnishings decorating some of the world’s top hotels, restaurants, and office spaces. Before joining Moore & Giles, Buckley was the vice president of contract sales for

for four years. Before that he was with
Edelman Leather
for 13 years, last serving as its vice president of sales.
“In our industry, innovation is key,” says Buckley. “You’re either a leader or a follower. Moore & Giles is definitely an innovator and a leader. It’s exciting to be able to innovate and create such wonderful leathers for an audience that’s certainly ready for it.”
In his new role, Buckley will be in charge of leading the 81-year-old company into the future through sales and marketing. In his first month alone, Buckley has completely revamped the company’s marketing strategy and sampling packages for the industry and the changes have already started to roll out. Because of the company’s strong history, he says that its position within in the industry is a strong one, even as more and more family-owned companies have been acquired by larger firms.
Donald Graeme Moore founded Moore & Giles in Lynchburg, Virginia, in 1933. The company name was later changed when his son-in-law, W. Vernon Giles, joined the company in 1935. Their descendants continue to play active roles within the company.
“The pieces are all here,” Buckley says. “There’s something to be said about a company that has been privately held since 1933. Moore & Giles still very much has a family and community culture to it.”
