15 Product Highlights From Feria Hábitat Valencia 2022
In a heady rush of vibrant color, cushy upholstery, and creative versatility, Spanish design returns to the spotlight in the form of Feria Hábitat Valencia this fall. Following a three-year Pandemic hiatus, the show will run September 20-23.
Once again, young designers will earn a shoutout at Nude, the emerging design showcase which will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
Feria Hábitat Valencia 2022 is just in time for the city’s recognition as World Design Capital 2022, which promotes design around the city with a program of events and initiatives.
From a twisted sofa to dive into to a toast to a common waterfowl, to a lamp for plants, here’s a sneak preview of 15 of our favorite new products.
1. Loop & Link by Raw Color for Sancal
Break those chains…or cozy up in them? Loop & Link is a series of playful upholstered sofas formed without hard corners. More links—in various colors, patterns, and sizes—can be added for unlimited chains.
2. Cuac by Dibloo
A cheeky tribute to the expression of a common waterfowl, Cuac by Dibloo is an upholstered seat with a ball-shaped backrest, perfect for a common room waddling (otherwise known as a flock of ducks).
3. Panama Banana by Agota Rimsaite
Evoking seaside nostalgia with a form that hints at surfboards or ship-building, Panama Banana is a lightweight, flatpack sun lounger in birch plywood and polyester rope. A transparent varnish provides weather resistance. “The ropes give an open texture so when you lie down the wind can go through and you feel more refreshed on a hot day at the beach,” says the designer.
4. Bols by Mermelada Estudio for Estiluz
A floorlamp that can be transformed into an illuminated plant pot is a standout in the outdoor-friendly Bols collection of metal lamps. Two other metal structures, including a pendant, are also available—all attach to a polyethylene ball base.
5. Bolero by Claesson Koivisto Rune for Capdell
A nod at fur collars of the 1920s, Bolero is an upholstered chair, two-seater sofa or bench on a beech wood base. All have a generously wide seat.
6. Jumbo by Ramón Esteve for Lebom
A British classic earns a revamp in the rounded plush form of the upholstered Jumbo sofa, inspired by Renzo Frau’s famed Chester sofa and London’s Victorian-age social clubs. The metal frame is available in a black or gold finish.
7. Wudi by Francesc Rifé for Inclass
Wood accents and trim lines add sophistication to lounging with Wudi, a collection of armchairs, benches, and side tables. Oak table tops and bases are offered in four hues—natural, walnut, wenge, and black.
8. Ele-Mental System by Miguel Angel Llacer
A transformable shelving system without visible holes, Ele-Mental allows adaptation of shelves, supports, and modules and is designed to be shipped flat-pack.
9. Kanga by Sitsofa
Distinctively angled legs on an exposed wood frame set the cotton-linen-upholstered Kanga sofa apart. A long life cycle is assured, thanks to weather-resistant varnish applied to the FSC-certified solid Sapele wood (allowing it to move from inside to out) and replaceable covers. An armchair version is also available.
10. Bolonia by iSi Design Group for Isimar
The Bolonia pouf by the in-house design team at Isimar is a new addition to wire outdoor furniture collection Bolonia, a tribute to a virgin beach in Spain and its shapely sand dunes.
11. Obi by Ludovica + Roberto Palomba for Expormim
A waterproof textile or leather belt—inspired by the sash of a Japanese kimono—cinches the tidy look of upholstered seating collection Obi, which rests on frames of 100 percent recyclable injection-molded aluminum.
12. Phil by Estudi{H}ac for Koo International
Pondering a tailor’s wrist cushion, design studio Estudi{H}ac envisioned Phil, a wood and metal armchair. Its upholstery is removable for cleaning.
13. Omma by Eli Gutiérrez for LZF
Omma, a wood veneer and metal modular lighting collection offered as suspension, table, and floor lamp, is easily reconfigured with the addition of more of its ‘leaves.’
14. Velasca by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba for Punt Mobles
Celebrating the natural beauty of the grain of its oak wood, Velasca is a sideboard with vertically-grooved doors.
15. Tono by La Mamba for Ofitres
Finish, height, and base options allow versatility with the fiber panel and particle board Tono cabinet, available with two, three, or four doors.
